Kristal brings up the concept showing our bodies online and Jana discusses the types of comments she’s received on Instagram when she’s posted shots of her body. The two laugh about haters and ultimately decide that it’s important that marginalized people show their bodies publicly and that all bodies have visibility. Kristal compares this to her experience going to her first Comic Con, where she was exposed to all kinds of people and cosplay, and how she considered trying cosplay after seeing it. She shouts out @cosplayofcolor on IG and tried the cosplay of Black Canary and she posted pics of herself in the costume - the first time she publicly showed her entire body online and not just her face, and the two discuss the concept of performing and costumes and role play.
After dissecting “food talk” and fatphobic language in their own lives, Jana asks Kristal about her comedy career and her grind. Kristal discusses using mics to work out the muscle and how she’s doing about 3 shows a week these days, but that schedule ebbs and flows. Kristal shares her thinking about how she’s improved in comedy, how she’s overcome her own sensitivity to being on stage and documenting her process. She talks about her goals in this industry and shares how we can follow her.
