Madison is a Black woman who identifies as fat, big, a big hoe or fat hoe. Since doing comedy, Madison says she has gained more weight but she certainly talks about how deliciously fine her body is right now. Jana and Madison discuss the implications behind the word "fat", how it often gets attached to race, because at the end of the insult fat is the implication of worthlessness. Madison discusses being Black and fat and how her body has been sexualized quite a bit. The two discuss how fatness is the last bastion of appropriate discrimination.
Jana and Madison enter into a larger conversation about identity and being of mixed-race. Not only are mixed folx fetishized, they are often silenced by their own and outsiders to white people. Often communities of color have bought into the tenants of white supremacy, making it increasingly more challenging for mixed people to exist peacefully and belong.
Madison's One Cool Thing was the Royal Wedding and how excited she was to see a mixed race Black woman marry into the Royal fam. She talks about how Black the ceremony was and how hopeful it is to see change in that crusty old monarchy.
Jana's One Cool Thing is yoga practitioner named Jessamyn Stanely. She is a Black woman of size who has a podcast and a whole platform for women of size and color in yoga! @mynameisjessamyn.
