Jude Valentin is a 22 year old who uses the word fat to describe her body. She identifies as a bisexual demi-girl on the non-binary gender spectrum and she’s Latinx living in NYC. Jude is younger but Jana gets into discussions with her throughout the episode that make Jude seem wise beyond her years. Jude went to an arts high school and didn’t come out as queer until college. She discusses how queerness was accepted in high school but that Jude was bullied throughout her school-age experience. Jude talks about fatness in her household: accepted by one parent and not accepted by another. Once again, Jana gets into a conversation with another fat person about how fatphobia persists even in very progressive spaces.
Jude’s advocacy has grown, being active on YouTube with many videos about body liberation, fat liberation and body positivity. Jude says that her videos are for her younger self. What a dope concept! Check out a few of Jude’s videos here:
Jude also feels strongly about bisexual representation in queer culture. She discusses her identity about her bisexual identity and the videos she’s developed about that aspect of missing representation, and her other big point of advocacy is mental illness and bringing more awareness to that as a part of many of our experiences.
